Many folks who don't have experience with diesel engines believe that they are nearly maintenance free. This leads to neglect of some basic long term maintenance...the most common of which is neglecting to have injectors regularly tested and adjusted/rebuilt/replaced. When diesel fuel is used this results in poor fuel economy and reduced performance. But when VO is the fuel this can quickly lead to piston ring/land/groove coking and result in a ruined engine.

Ditto for injection timing.

Have both tested by a reputable diesel injection shop prior to converting any engine to VO.

If injectors need to be rebuilt or replaced be sure to NOT buy the cheapest parts available to to so. There are some really crappy injectors and injectors parts on the market. Many of these come from India.
