There are several reports of individuals buying conversion kits from Frybrid and not receiving them since the "suspension of kit sales" notice was posted and later deleted.
The current Frybrid order page includes a "summer special" kit promotion and the following:
Parts are shipped the same business day if orders are placed before 11am PST excluding legal holidays, orders palced after 11am PST will be shipped the following business day. All parts are shipped USPS Priority mail.
Also included is contact information for ordering kits and parts.
Since the website doesn't allow online ordering and several customers with unfulfilled kit orders have stated that they had to directly contact the owner of Frybrid (Chris Goodwin) to order (and pay for) the kits there has been an ongoing discussion on several forum on the possible reasons he accepted payment for and then failed to deliver them.
The recent discussion on the Frybrid forum (which appears to be no longer moderated by the owner of Frybrid) includes the following comments:
"When it comes to 'you have my money, where's my stuff', many call him the mayor of excuses village. Caveat emptor."
"I called that village home for over two years. Then drove to Seattle, and sat outside of his shop for two full days in hopes of meeting the Mayor. No meeting, no refund, no nothing. Not even a returned email... I've lost all faith in the most interesting man in the world... And it was a very expensive lesson in caveat emptor..."
"Sorry to here you got screwed over. I really didn't think CG would do that to one of his oldest supporters and members here."
"I know Chris has been through some rough sh*t in recent times, but the measure of a man's character really shows up when he's pressured and I don't think we are seeing anything positive here. The people that have caused him grief don't include Pir8darryl. The fact that they (CG and Pir8darryl) entered into a business transaction and CG failed to make good on his end - and then failed to seek pir8darryl out and arrange a reasonable conclusion to the transaction - speaks volumes. CG used to be a much better man than this. Is it that hard to say "I fell on hard times, I f*cked up - but I took your money and I will make good on the deal. Thanks for being so understanding."?
It sucks to watch someone you respected turn into something less. "

"What do you call a businessman that accepts your order, takes your funds - then ignores you without delivering the goods? Even after you go out of your way to make it possible for them to fulfill a renegotiated contract? Do you do business with them a second time? Do you recommend them to others? Things can go a couple of different ways here - they can remain like they are and fester, or CG can "man up" and make it right. "Manning up" is the harder path, but it does wonders to restore a little faith and serves as a starting point for rebuilding a life. It's even cheap advertising and smart business. Letting it fester is probably the most expensive way to destroy credibility and any future business effort with the WVO crowd."
"You might find a couple posts where I've been CRITICAL of CG for his failure to deliver, refund, or make an honest attempt to bring the matter between the two of us to a close... But even then, can you blame me? Keep in mind we're talking about a frybrid kit here. In other words, a LOT of money... I can tell you that you WILL find where CG has been quite insulting to me on those occasions I've been critical of him. For what it's worth, I have saved and cataloged every single email, private message, and exchange we have ever had. I could easily make that catalog public. I can ABSOLUTELY ASSURE you that the information contained there-in is quite damning to CG, but out of simple respect I have not. I have spoken [at great length] with people who are very [very] close to him. I've spoken to people who have worked in his shop... Hell, I even spoke with his attorney once [I initiated contact] in hopes of bringing this matter to a close, but all to no avail. "
"I'm just calling it as I see it. I have been a registered user on this site for 5 years and a lurker for another 2 years. In these 7 years i've seen countless threads on how CG failed to MAKE IT RIGHT, most of the time people sent the money and waited for years! Or didn't get all the parts they ordered. Or got half their kit sent right away and had to wait another year to get the second half. I couldn't imagine my credit card being charged thousands of dollars and waiting years for the product! Then the countless people posting after their phone calls with Frybrid. Paying customers and installers who are treated like crap when they get a hold of frybrid (which is not likely). Is that normal? Its not right. "
"21 months ago, he accepted my money and I have never seen anything in return....kit or refund, after many, many pm's and emails...never answers the phone. I've recently purchased a BFT kit, and had it shipped to NY, picked it up at the border, no issues getting across. I've emailed Chris asking if he can do the same with the Dodge Frybrid kit, and never a response have I had.
My opinion is if you can't/won't ship it, refund my money!"
"i'm a reader of the forum, not a contributor, because i have no experience with the frybrid kits yet. i'm hoping to soon, though. my son installed a greasecar kit on his '96 vw passat as his h.s. graduation project, with my help, so i'm familiar with it from that perspective. but having read a lot of good stuff on this forum by chris and others about burning wvo and the frybrid kit, i decided to order one for my '98 24v dodge ram 2500 5.9L last june. chris was quite helpful answering some questions and reservations i had because of stuff i read about the vp44 after i bought the truck. with his assurances, i ordered a kit, sent in my money.
i am one still awaiting the kit. chris responded quickly to a request for manuals. he also sent a note a few months ago that the tank was almost welded, with the family reasons for the delay. other emails and phone calls have not been responded to.
i'm not into trashing people like sometimes happens on these forums, but it has been a bit frustrating to wait so long with so little feedback. i'm trusting i'll still get the kit. chris, if you read this post, i hope you can check your records and see i am still an outstanding order."
"I fear you will be waiting even longer. Probably best to kiss your $ goodbye and treat it as a sunk cost. Move on to another vendor and buy a kit that will arrive soon and start paying yourself back by running WVO. If the Frybrid ever does show up post it for sale as new and ready to ship immediately and sell it at a profit. My bet is that you don't see it."
"Last June?!?!? You should've researched more. It was well established that frybrid was not shipping anything long before June. Your $ is gone."
"The business was still listed as inactive on the WA SOS site the last time I looked - and has been for a very long time now.
So - the business is not active, another order was accepted, funds were taken - and the order was never shipped? At some point this is called "fraud" and the corporate shield does not apply - especially with an inactive business. Most folks that don't enjoy prison time usually consider this before it becomes a problem. At what point does this cross the point where individuals no longer need to "lawyer up" and the State of Washington steps in to prosecute?"
"Can someone explain to me why the most useful veggie forum on the internet is affiliated with and maintained by the very same guy that most everyone here seems to know as a shady and very likely criminal character?!"
"There may be a few excuses that are good enough to cover for this action. Here are a couple:
a. I'm stuck in a Mexican jail and unable to access my accounts and repay my debts or even get word out to those I owe.
b. I'm dead and buried and my estate is unable to settle my debt.
c. I'm dead and my body has not been discovered yet, so my estate is tied up in court and hasn't settled my debts.
d. ??? (I cannot think of anything else that would make for a good excuse)
Maybe others can chime in with reasonable excuses that would justify the actions that have been taken thus far."
