I'm running a 300SD on a heated 2 tank setup (hotfox, FPHE and heated fuel/ water separator filter).

In my veg tank I have about 15% diesel and 85% filtered WVO. I have pretty new filters and recently did a diesel purge and oil change.
The problem is, after running for a while on WVO, I still experience quite substantial shaking at idle. There is no shaking when I'm running on diesel.
Do you have any idea about what might be causing this shaking and how to remedy it?
Thanks,

Mark

It may be as simple as simply setting the idle up a bit.
I also suggest checking the engine mounts. If they are broken or deteriorating they may not be able to deal with the "shake" low rpm may induce.

Thanks Dana.

I had another suggestion that there might be air getting in to the VO system somewhere - but do you think this is plausible?

The issue only emerges after about 15 minutes of running on veg (with 15% diesel mixed in). I was told that viscosity wouldn't be the problem since the fuel is mixed and fully heated.

On biodiesel/ diesel (in my main tank) there is no shaking whatsoever at idle. Can I rule out the air theory and just increase the idle speed? Or if air is getting into the system, where might this be most likely to occur?

P.S No problems at normal/ higher speeds on veg except perhaps slightly more sluggish.

Air leak symptoms are usually more dramatic than you describe.
But anything is possible.
